If this doesn't convince you to get dish or cable, guess nothing will!

"If this doesn't convince you to get dish or cable, guess nothing will!" DM When I asked the service gal about it, her convulsions of laughter were so severe I was afraid we might have to call an ambulance. But we got her calmed down, and though it's only been a few weeks, she seems to be recovering nicely. You see DM, I live in a rural environment. Satellite may be big around here, but there is no cable. I don't want dish Internet. But about the videos: I think I saw the one about how Oprahism is like a secular religion. I found it interesting. But I find nearly all conspiracy theories interesting. Some of them are clever, creative. |

Indeed.
I'm sure you'll find plenty of interesting material to comment about.

Verizon is now offering wireless Internet for $39.95/month. Many cities, or parts of cities, now offer free wireless Internet. In the future, wireless Internet will blanket the entire nation and everyone will get it for free. |

"Verizon is now offering wireless Internet for $39.95/month." Guy I believe it. But I don't believe it. $39.95 X 12 = $479.4 That's weigh too much. |

What cities in Cali have free wifi? $479.4 a year is totally worth it.

Tolle doesn't particularly impress me. While a certain amount of his Eastern-inspired doctrine is philosophically sound, he doesn't strike me as much
more than a New-Agey platitude-peddler. I know that's a bit harsh and I know you're a fan (Ducky), but I'm calling it like it see it. Your mileage
may vary, but anytime Eastern philosophy is packaged in a format that appeals to an audience as conventional as Oprah's, I find it rather uninteresting.
Although Tolle is undoubtedly reaching millions through Oprah, I can't imagine that he is significantly changing a whole lot of lives. My mental picture is
of suburbanites driving to their jobs in their SUV's with a Tolle CD playing on the expensive stereo. And yes, in terms of the whole thrust of Eastern
philosophy, that isn't an ideal situation.
I don't particularly dislike Tolle, but he isn't for me. I prefer a stronger, more unconventional approach aimed at an audience significantly more receptive to the prospect of life-altering change. I'm sure there's a legitimate place for teachers like Tolle and Adya, but I tend to be more interested in someone like U.G.Krishnamurti. I don't need everything to be presented in placid, comforting terms. I'm more interested in throwing out delusion even if it has to hurt. Tolle strikes me as too attached to his Oprah appearances, best-seller lists, and large bank accounts to break loose and hit somebody over the head with the Zen stick when it's needed.
But is that true of a mud loach?

Much of what Tolle says makes sense to me. But I always regard myself as my own guru, and some of his recommendations may not work for me. In any case, I
don't think there's much chance that anybody will go terribly wrong by reading or listening to his stuff. |

No, I don't suppose so. It's certainly better than nothing at all.
